FrostWire est un projet piloté par la communauté sur la base du code source de LimeWire LLC (http://www.limewire.com) afin de créer et de maintenir une application Gnutella (http://www.gnutellaforums.com) selon les standards ouverts d'une communauté internationale.

FrostWire et LimeWire

Nous essayons de maintenir de bonnes relations avec les développeurs du projet LimeWire. L'équipe FrostWire (qui font tous partie de la communauté source ouverte de LimeWire) regrette la décision de LimeWire, qui implique le filtrage de contenu sur Gnutella. Cependant, nous allons continuer à supporter le développement de LimeWire et nous ne souhaitons pas effectuer des changements fondamentaux dans le coeur même de LimeWire. FrostWire ne va pas diverger de la philosophie de design de LimeWire.

Il est à noter que FrostWire, ne va jamais offrir une version PRO. Le projet va toujours rester à but non lucratif et libre de tout logiciel ajouté incluant des publicités ou incitations à verser de l'argent.
